Welcome, friends.
Make yourself at home. Roshni’s pounding cardamom in her grandmother’s mortar and pestle; there’s a fresh cup of steaming chai on it’s way for you. Rebecca is just finishing up a tray of anisette cookies, so we hope you’ll stay for stories of connection, comfort, and resilience.
We’re gathering around the table to explore the bittersweet complexity of grief. Honoring those that we have lost. Unraveling the tangled stories we’ve carried through displacement. Tracing our footsteps through the diaspora. Teasing out the delicate tendrils of ancestral connection, trampled by colonialism. Taking a mirror to the identities we are shedding, and the soft, strong heart beneath.
We ask our grief, what are you craving?
And then we listen. We listen with our skin, our bones, our senses. Here we sit with the resilience of the olive tree. The medicine and mystery of tulsi. The joyful laughter of the jujube.
We invite you to the Marigolde community table, a table frequented by cooks, creatives, activists and artists. We will be here every Friday with stories of hope, and recipes of resilience. You can also find our show notes and resources from the Mango & Gnocchi Podcast here on the first Friday of every month.
